CORONADO

Bien, hemos pasado la tarde tratando de averiguar cosas y lo que hemos descubierto es que hay más cosas por descubrir aún. Y como no lo sabemos todo, sería muy bueno que los demás aportaran algo. Todo el mundo sabe cosas que otros no saben. Si tienes alguna idea de cómo hacer que este mundo perdure hasta que podamos extendernos por el universo y tal vez responder finalmente a la pregunta de Aura sobre el porqué, oigámosla. No importa lo extraño que pueda ser. Por ejemplo, aunque Aura mencionó que la carne hecha de plantas es más saludable para nosotros y para los animales, alguien más se dio cuenta de que con sólo añadir una pizca de algas al alimento del ganado, éste eructa y se tira menos gases. Y eso también es una belleza porque el metano de los eructos y los gases del ganado es peor para el aire que el dióxido de carbono de los tubos de escape de los automóviles.
Okay. So we spent the afternoon trying to figure things out and what we discovered is there’s more figuring out to do. And since we don’t know everything, it would be really nice if others would chime in. Everybody knows things other people don’t know. If you’ve got some idea how to make this world last until we can spread out across the universe and maybe eventually answer Aura’s Why question, let’s hear it. No matter how weird it may be. Like, although Aura mentioned meat made of plants is healthier for us and the animals, somebody else noticed that just adding a dash of seaweed to cattle feed  makes them burp and fart less. And that’s also a beaut because the methane in burps and farts is worse for the air than the carbon dioxide in auto exhaust.

Si tienes el tiempo y la energía, hazlas sudecer. Incluso si no se te ocurre ninguna, tal vez las necesidades de alguien más ayudan: tal vez amigos, tal vez dinero.
If you’ve got the time and energy, make ‘em happen. Even if you didn’t come up with one yourself, maybe somebody else's needs help: maybe workers, maybe money.

Si no necesita el trabajo, pero ya tiene algo de dinero, es probable que con el conjunto de buenas ideas pueda utilizar algunos inversionistas para reforzar su operación. Las personas dedicadas y las empresas pequeñas pueden ser la mejor inversión, pero las que ya tienen suficiente respaldo para salir a la bolsa también pueden y deben dar resultados. If you don’t need the work but already have some dough, chances are the good idea outfit could use some investors to beef up their operation. Dedicated individuals and tiny companies can be the best investment, but ones that already have enough backing to go public can and should pay off too. Whether you’ve got money to burn or just need the work, check out the companies owned by a few environmentally focused ETFs. This is a short list because most companies products can be used for good or ill, same as Aura’s example of extending the hand as a fist or a greeting. Same as even just commodities like iron can be made into guns or bridges. Same as guns can be used for murder or defense of a child. Same as a bridge can be used to rescue somebody, or attack them. Our list is an attempt to avoid the either/or conundrum and focus on stuff that’s more likely than not to help our world. And I’m throwing in a list of a few companies we’ve zeroed in on that appeal to us. We welcome your suggestions, too. But if you’re just looking for a way to throw money at solving the world’s malaise, or even make some money by doing so, just bet on the ETFs.

Además de concebir ideas y hacerlas realidad, también está la cuestión de que vivimos en un mundo de otras personas. Tanto si se trata de una democracia como de una dictadura, el mundo tiene el aspecto que la mayoría de la población quiere que tenga. Así que conseguir que nuestros ciudadanos vean la luz acaba siendo el mayor reto de todos. Lo que hay que hacer es apoyar a quien ve la luz. Y si nadie, excepto tú, la ve, declara tu disponibilidad para encabezar la marcha hacia un futuro mejor y ponte en marcha.
Besides coming up with ideas and then making them happen, there’s also the matter of us living in a world of other people. Whether it’s a democracy or a dictatorship, it looks the way the bulk of the population wants it to look. So getting our fellow citizens to see the light ends up being the biggest challenge of all. The thing to do is to support whoever does see the light. And if nobody except you sees it, declare your availability to spearhead the march to a brighter future and get moving.

Yo diría que alguien como el gobernador de California Newsom con su orden de prohibir la venta de automóviles a gas para 2035 es un tipo increíble. Aunque 2035 se siente demasiado lejos para mí, tal vez los que dudan vendrán para entonces. Yo diría que ve la luz y está haciendo lo que tiene sentido.
I’d say somebody like California’s Governor Newsom with his order to ban the sale of gas powered cars by 2035 is such a guy. Though 2035 feels too far away for me, maybe the doubters will come around by then. I’d say he sees the light and is doing what makes sense.

Luego están las dictaduras que pueden obligar a la gente a hacer cosas y como dijo Sine: Eso puede ser bueno si las ideas son claras y buenas, pero malo si no lo son.
Then there are the dictatorships that can force people to do things and, like Sine said: That can be good if the ideas are clear headed and good, but bad if they’re not.

You think he’s strong enough to outlaw that shark fin soup you told me about? If they ate the whole fish instead of just the fins it might be a harder sell. But you can’t even taste the fins.

Creo que su juego será un bombazo si alguna vez lo consiguen. Afortunadamente, otras personas han ideado algunos juegos que al menos hacen que los jugadores piensen en nuestro entorno. La única cosa que hemos preparado hasta ahora que tiene una oración de ayudar a las cosas a lo largo de este tiempo es nuestro feye gratis de ron  (letra) donde puedes contarnos a nosotros y a todos los demás las ideas que has tramado o escuchado: Es una forma de compartir e incluso de dialogar con los demás. I think their game will be a blast if they ever get it done. Fortunately other people have cooked up some games that at least get players to think about our surroundings. Here’s a link to some of them. The one thing we’ve cooked up so far that has even a prayer of helping things along is our free feye fo rum (lyrics) where you can tell us and everybody else what ideas you’ve hatched or heard of: It’s a way to share and maybe even dialogue with each other. Give it a go. There’s no time like the present. At least do it before the blue planet itself blows us all off in one big fart.

El sueño de Coronado era hacer nuestro concierto en vivo en el Cañón. Eso fue lo que nos inspiró a Sine y a mí a acompañarnos. Por suerte, Sine sabía algo de la página de internet, y así es como hemos conseguido dar a conocer nuestra historia a pesar de la pandemia. Coronado todavía sueña con hacerlo en vivo y conseguir un público entusiasta para reunirse, codearse y sacar chispas. Pero creo que puede tener algo en marcha  (letra) con alguien que puso alguna idea  (letra) que tenían en el Foro. (Aunque ahora no está ahí. Coronado pidió a Sine que lo borrara.
Coronado’s dream was to do our gig live at the Canyon. That’s what inspired Sine and me to tag along. Thankfully Sine knew something about the web, and that’s how we’ve managed to get our story out there despite the pandemic. Coronado still dreams of doing it live and getting an electrified audience to meetup, rub shoulders and make sparks fly. But I think he may have something going (lyrics) with somebody who put some idea (lyrics) they had on the Forum. (It's not there now, though. Coronado asked Sine to erase it.)
